‘Sankata’ means problems or chaos. Once who sees or prays to Ganesha on the day of Sankata-Hara-Chaturthi will be freed of all problems in his or her life. Number ‘4’ is liked by Lord Ganesha. Hence, Sankata-Hara-Chaturthi occurs on 4th day after Poornima or full moon day.
